Dubbo Zoo - continued

Getting aroundInside the zoo, you can choose to either walk around or drive your car around. You can also hire bikes from the zoo (or bring your own for that matter). I'd recommend walking around rather than driving, if you're up to it. You will need to park the to see just about all of the exhibits so there's a lot of parking and driving for 50 metre stretches and parking again if you choose to take the car around with you. i.e. if you drive, you end up walking about the same distance as if you'd left the car at the main entrance. |
Layout of the Dubbo ZooThe zoo is arranged as a large loop road with the animal exhibits along the way both on the inside and outside of the loop. The zoo has a particular emphasis on the African animals, but there's quite a wide range including a good Australian animals section. By the way these "horned things" are Asiatic Water Buffalo and a Sitatunga (or maybe the second one is an Eland?) |

Here's a picture of a pair of my favourite "striped horses", zebras. Taronga ZooIf you are enjoying this virtual trip to Dubbo Western Plains Zoo, you'd might like Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney too. Taronga Zoo is easily accessible by ferry from Circular Quay (Sydney city) as well as by bus, car or taxi from various locations. In addition to the many great exhibits, Taronga Zoo has spectacular views of Sydney. |
